PREFACE
The Pamphlet No. 1 published by the NationalLeague of Japanese University Professors wasentitled" An Outline of the Manchurian Problem."In that pamphlet we endeavoured to elucidate thefact that the so- called Manchurian problem was notoccasioned by Japan's imperialistic aggressions andthat her military operations in what is now theState of Manchoukuo were dictated by the need ofself- defence. We also clarified the fact that thegenesis of the new State of Manchoukuo was solelyto be traced to the initiative of the people of thatcountry and that Japan only lent her helping handto her neighbour, whose ardent friendship sheheld in high esteem.

In the Pamphlet No. 2 which was entitled TheReal Nature of Japan and the Japanese" we ex-plained the unparalleled courage shown by theJapanese in their opposition to other nations at theLeague of Nations' meetings over the Manchurianproblem. The heroic determination with which Japancarried out her Far Eastern policy and the greatdecisiveness with which she met every oppositionat the hand of other nations and finally withdrew
