Im Haus 20 Maresfield Gardens inLondon, dem letzten Wohnort derFamilie Freud und dem heutigen FreudMuseum, befinden sich insgesamt neunMöbelstücke ländlich- alpiner Herkunft.Sie stammen aus Bayern bzw. überwie-gend aus Oberösterreich, einer Gegendmit einer vitalen und ausdifferenziertenMöbelmalereitradition, ihre Datierun-gen verweisen auf das 18. und 19. Jahr-hundert. Fünf Stück dieser kleinenMöbelsammlung sind im ehemaligenDining Room der Familie im Erdge-schoss zu sehen. Sie und ihre Geschich-te bilden den Ausgangspunkt der Aus-stellung im Volkskundemuseum Wien.

Five items of furniture move memory

In the house at 20 Maresfield Gardensin London, the last residence ofthe Freud family and now the FreudMuseum, stand a total of nine piecesof rustic, Alpine furniture. They weremade in Bavaria and, for the most part,Upper Austria, a region with a strongand differentiated tradition of decoratedfurniture, and they date from the 18thand 19th centuries. Five pieces fromthis small collection of furniture canbe seen in the family's former diningroom on the ground floor. They andtheir history form the starting point foran exhibition at the Austrian Museumof Folk Life and Folk Art in Vienna.
