This platform offered by the Volkskundemuseum Wien (Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art) allows you to browse through and conduct research on selected digitised material from the extensive holdings in our object collections, library and archive.
Even though some minor programming work still needs to be done and some collections still need to be filled with life, our digital library is already live. Up until now, you were able to use the library in the Online Publications section on our website. The pool currently includes 607 self-published titles from the museum and the Association for Austrian Folk Life (Verein für Volkskunde). A total of 106 publications from the library holdings, which relate to our object collections or specific research areas, complement the platform. All texts are now available through open access with enhanced full text versions and extensive search options.
In the object collections section, you can browse through selected compilations on graphics, photography and ceramics.
The platform is constantly being expanded. A total of 18.000 digital copies will be available by the end of February 2025. Stay tuned!
