Der Schaft ist in Form einer sich windenden, geschuppten Schlange gefertigt, die einen b\u00e4rtigen Mann von unten verschlingt, so dass nur mehr sein Kopf zu sehen ist. Die Schlange symbolisiert das B\u00f6se in der Welt, von dem alle Menschen bedroht sind. Sie wird von unten von einer Hand gehalten, die gleich gro\u00df ist wie der Kopf des Mannes. Dabei handelt es sich um die Hand Gottes, die das B\u00f6se b\u00e4ndigt. Auf dem geschweiften Sockel mit Kreuzst\u00e4nder (Volutenf\u00fc\u00dfe) ist ein Hund mit Schlappohren als Relief herausgeschnitzt, der als W\u00e4chter und Verteidiger des Glaubens und der Tugend zu verstehen ist.
