Assoziieren Frauen heutzutage mit den Stacheln Menstruationsschmerzen, so waren sie historisch ein Sinnbild f\u00fcr Hysterie, die angeblich aus der Geb\u00e4rmutter aufstieg \u2013 Hysterie ist ein Begriff, der heute aufgrund seiner Frauen- und Sexualit\u00e4tsfeindlichkeit aus der modernen Medizin weitgehend verschwunden ist.\rDieses Objekt war Teil eines Konvoluts, das vom Museum f\u00fcr V\u00f6lkerkunde in Hamburg an das Volkskundemuseum in Wien 1911 im Tausch abgegeben wurde.
